It seems that my educational experience this summer will never end. Three more exams to go before I move to summer school and get to do more work – yeeha! Thank goodness I am studying a topic that interests me; otherwise, this would be even more of a grueling experience.
But for those of you on summer break, who are looking for meaningful entertainment instead of the latest chicklit novel, I have another suggestion – how about listening to food experts such as Michael Pollan, Raj Patel and others explain their views on the economics and politics of food?
UC Berkeley last year hosted a series of talks – serious, one to one-and-a-half hour talks in a semi-lecture style – for students and the general public called “Edible Education”, and they are all uploaded onto Youtube. The first one in the series? Michael Pollan talking about “Eating Oil, Eating Sunshine”.
If it tickles your fancy, go check it out!
