Short but sweet today, in more than one meaning of the word: Look at this awesome video of cocoa farmers tasting the final product of their beans for the first time. Many of them had no clue what the beans they make their living with are actually used for.
Optional: Let’s take a second to acknowledge our good fortunes in the world to have been born into (relative) privilege when we next bite into our (fair trade) chocolate, and think of the hard work that went into it, ok?
Have a great Wednesday!
Powerful.
Amazing video I’ve watched a many times. Killer point is at minute 2.42 “this is why white people are so healthy”. What I try to explain to my team so often is that natural cacao minimally produced without the milk and sugar (eg how we eat it in Ecuador, and what BLYSS makes) “is” purity. And how in fact “the whites” are sick and dying with diabetes and heart disease from the overly sweet processed foods. It’s always a battle to talk with evolving communities and explain how often their health and nutrition is absolutely supreme to the fast food nations. #eternalparadox
