I may have mentioned that I love maps. Let me repeat – I. Love. Maps. For their simplicity and succinctness of being able to visualize information, maps are unbeatable. This article is pretty amazing – it tells the story of America’s food through 40 maps (and a couple of charts, if we are picky). Spanning the gamut from historical developments, information about where which crops are grown and which cattle is being raised, how much of land is being used in monoculture, and economic evaluations that underlie the subsequent developments. It’s a beautiful piece of work and deserves so much attention! I wonder whether something similar exists for Europe. If not, maybe somebody should make it… Read and enjoy!!
