Faithful readers may remember that I already wrote once about Dr. Temple Grandin, but when Rianna from Masters-in-Special-Education.com reached out and asked whether I wanted to share their infographic, I was more than happy to oblige. And hey, I learned so many new things as well! Fun fact – she got honorary degrees from two of my schools (McGill and SLU, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences), so that makes her even more awesome [obviously]. I was also intrigued by the stats on autism spectrum disorder, a topic that I only touched upon in my original post, but which has also been a crucial part of Dr. Grandin’s work. Finally, I especially like the fact that she constructed a hug box for herself (did I talk about that last time?), inspired by a machine that calmed cattle down by squeezing them tightly. The same concept, just smaller, did the job for her – so cool to get in touch with your needs and figure out innovative ways to meet them. Hope you enjoy the infographic as well, and Happy Easter from Iceland!

Thank you for this infographic. Did you know that we’re in Autism Awareness Month? I started a thread about Prof Grandin in the disability community I run, which includes several autistic people. Here’s the thread http://friendly-crips.livejournal.com/204952.html
