One never really knows what to say in the very first post of a brand-new blog, right? Well, let me make it short and sweet – I’m not quite new to the blogosphere, having blogged on-and-off about my travels and moving abroad over at Blini and Baguette, but recently my blogging interests have shifted quite a bit and after some absence, I decided to focus more on my current field of study and interesting developments there. When I started doing that on my original blog and figured out it was worthwhile to keep going, I realized that a dedicated blog might be better suited for the purpose so my grandma doesn’t have to translate food policy issues into German and people interested in food systems don’t have to read about my personal travel adventures, so Food (Policy) for Thought was born! I’ll try to highlight, comment and pinpoint current developments and research in the food policy sector, put them in laymen’s terms, and point to great analyses and commentaries on other sites. To get into the topic and some more info about me, head on over to my About page! And for a great and much more in-depth introduction to the subject matter, consider taking the free online Coursera course “An Introduction to the US Food System” – it gives a great holistic overview about issues regarding our current food system.
