  1. That old saying “power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely” is still true today, when people find themselves in positions of power it appears to be very difficult to maintain a relationship with the local and the environment. Education may be the key though

    1. Hey Paul, that is an interesting point! From my marketing classes, it seems that sometimes managers are truly confused about concepts such as sustainability and corporate social responsibility and appreciate being introduced to them. I also agree that if you instill a sense of responsibility and duty before people move up the hierarchy, it might be easier to maintain it even in situations of power.

    2. Hey Paul, good point and I somehow agree with you. But in my opinion, leadership is not necessarily what we traditionally call power. Yes, a “leader” always needs followers and thus a certain degree of power. However, the idea of sustainable leadership does not rely on hierarchical power but more on the power of maintaining rooted to “the local and the environment”. Sustainable Leadership can be to convice one person to act a bit more sustainably.
